To celebrate its 6th anniversary of existence, Tsikot.com in cooperation with Decal Republic, a firm specializing in staging special events, is presenting a grand autoshow-eyeball-street party event entitled “Autoberfest ‘08” on October 25, 2008, Saturday, at the Hobbies of Asia, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City.

Seaoil to Offer First Euro-5 Diesel in the Country

Seaoil Philippines Inc. has entered into a $30-million supply contract for the sale and distribution of the low emission Euro-5 diesel product, making it the first oil firm in the country to comply with the highest European emission standards.

Seaoil president and chief executive Francis Glenn Yu said they have forged an agreement with SK Networks, a major South Korean trading house, for the supply of Euro-5 diesel over the next six months.

At present, diesel being sold in the Philippines is only at Euro-2 standard. Read more

Toyota Philippines Set to Overshoot 2008 Sales Target

Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMPC) will likely overshoot its target this year with sales reaching about 50,000 units, a top company official said.

“We will surpass our initial forecast because the first eight months have been good,” TMPC executive vice president Rommel T. Gutierrez said in an interview at the sideline of the launch of Toyota ’s IMV (Innovative Multi-purpose Vehicle) series. Read more

Isuzu Showcases Lifestyle Vehicles at PIMS 2008

Isuzu Philippines used the recent Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) to demonstrate the many possible ways its vehicles can be tailored to the specific lifestyle needs of the market. Held end August 2008 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the PIMS was organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) for just the second year. Isuzu believes that the motor show was the perfect venue to flaunt its line of concept vehicles that will suit the varied needs of the Filipino market.

“We want people to realize that Isuzu does not only make utilitarian commercial vehicles,” said IPC President Keiji Takeda. “What we manufacture is a means for individuals and families to achieve freedom on the open road, and to do so in a trendy manner—while still enjoying the benefits of fuel-efficiency, engine power, dependability and value for money.” Read more

Local Group Reassumes Control over BMW Philippines

The BMW Group of Germany has decided to return control of its automobile business in the Philippines to its minority partner Asian Carmakers Corp. (ACC). The turnover will take effect Jan. 1, 2009.

In line with this BMW Philippines, owned 70 percent by the BMW Group and 30 percent by ACC, will be dissolved by December.

In an exclusive interview with The STAR, ACC chairman Jose Ch. “Pepito” Alvarez  said the BMW automobile business in the country will remain intact, but would now revert back to the control of ACC which had previously controlled the franchise. Read more

Toyota Philippines Relaunches Facelifted Hilux

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation is set to introduce the new Hilux this September 2008. Aside from the tough exterior facelift and the functional interior upgrades, the Hilux comes with a new 4X2 2.5 diesel variant in a 4X4 body. The new Hilux is one of the main highlights of the Toyota booth at the 2nd Philippine International Motorshow at the World Trade Center from August 21 to 24, 2008.

The Hilux, launched in December of 2004, was at the forefront of innovation in the pick-up segment. As part of Toyota’s International Innovative Multipurpose Vehicles (IMV) together with the Innova and Fortuner, the Hilux revolutionized the pick-up landscape with its tough features, state-of-the-art diesel technology, but handsome looks. Prior to its introduction, pick-up trucks were seen purely as a practical workhorse. Adding premium to style and form, combined with a powerful engine, the Hilux reigned supreme for the next three years since its introduction, both in the 4X4 and 4X2 segments, with average annual sales of 2,400 units.
